Let’s Talk about Oral Health

I have some embarrassing confessions to make today.

Like . . . I only brush my teeth once a day.

And . . . I never use mouthwash.

And . . . I floss once a week and bleed every time.

And  . . . my tongue’s got this whitish coating on it.  That never goes away.

I know.  Gross.  Imagine being my husband!

And my kids.  You can imagine that if my habit is once a day, theirs is too.  So I’m totally setting them up for bad oral health, just like me.

Should I even tell you how many crowns I’ve had in my life?  4.  Fillings?  Too many to count.  And some of them have reached their “life span,” needing replacements over the last few years.

I’ve recently learned some grosser than gross, gross out facts.  So gross, in fact, that I’m now going to do LISTERINE’S 21 day Challenge.

Want to be grossed out too?

Are you sure?

Ok.

Brushing alone misses 75% of your mouth.

Gross enough?

How about this one?

There are more germs in your mouth than there are people on Earth.

OMG.  I’m sold.  I’m totally taking the LISTERINE 21 Day Challenge.

Someone's totally excited to start the challenge with me!

Someone’s totally excited to start the challenge with me!

I’m excited, but a little nervous too.  This is a big change from my normally lazy, half-A’d daily teeth regime.

The cool thing about this challenge is that for every person who signs up for the challenge, LISTERINE will make a contribution to help Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America program, toward their goal of connecting 210,000 children with needed oral health services in 2013.

I like that.

So if I’m doing the challenge, I think you can too.  Improve your own oral care and the oral health of a child by signing up at LISTERINE’S Facebook page.

Seems pretty easy and smart.  Brushing, flossing, and using LISTERINE ULTRACLEAN twice a day?

So go sign up now and in a couple of weeks I’ll let you know how I’m doing.

Sound good?

Comments

  1. Confession: I only brush my teeth once a day as well. And I NEVER floss. The hygienist is always shocked that my teeth are so clean. Every time she says, “you must be a really good brusher.”

  2. Dont get me started on my oral health either. I have a dentist appointment in a couple of weeks that I’m not looking forward to at all.

  3. I had horrible habits as a kid, and a mouth FULL of fillings to prove it. I am much better behaved now.

  4. I did this challenge last year, and I can honestly say that it made a BIG difference in my routine. But I do need to step it back up on the flossing – there are still days when I forget to do it.

  5. I am actually OCD about brushing and flossing. It just makes your mouth feel so much better! And I’ve never had a cavity! Seriously pays to take care of your teeth and your kids teeth. Great challenge!

  6. You’re so honest, and clearly you want to make a few changes so I hope the challenge helps you do that. I am fanatical about oral care health but it took me a long time to get that way!

  7. I carry floss and a travel size toothbrush and toothpaste in my bag. I can’t stand tasting what I ate for hours on end. I’ve only been this way since my first pregnancy. Some crazy switch was flipped and I can’t turn it off. Good for my teeth but some people think I’m a little cookoo! ;-)

  8. I am with Kristen. Someone switched the crazy switch on me too. I floss at least once a day and rush at least twice. You will be a new woman after your Listerine challenge. I’m telling you!

  9. Meh, I only brush twice a day and never ever flos. Perfect teeth and thanking God for it.

  10. Listerine addict here. I even keep a bottle at my office. I love that stinging clean feeling!

  11. Oh it’s good to put this out there!

    {I have bad habits, too!}
